During January 4th to 6th, 2018, Professor Cheng Hong, Dean of IQDS and other experts of IQDS attended the annual meeting of the American Economic Association (AEA) and successfully carried out the recruitment of overseas talents in Philadelphia.
During this three-day recruitment, more than 63 overseas talents were interviewed. With the prudent selection by Prof. Li and Prof. Chen, the recruitment drew great attention from many overseas economic scholars in the field of microanalysis. As an important part of our international talent strategy, a large number of high quality overseas talents with undergraduate background from mainland China including Tsinghua University, Beijing University, Wuhan University and with doctor degree from world’s famous universities including Hongkong University, Purdue University, University of California, Davis were attracted in this recruitment. Through microanalysis, some talents mastered the field investigation, data cleaning and other key survey skills with good English and writing skills as well.
IQDS has become more attracted to overseas talents through this recruitment. More than half talented PhD students learned about the progress of CEES project. The research papers of CEES dataset produced by IQDS and international experts have also been widely known among overseas applicants through international academic conferences, seminar and other channels. In addition, most of the overseas talents were also interested in innovative initiatives of internationalization, specialization and institutionalization of IQDS. The comparative advantages of IQDS in attracting overseas talents are increasingly prominent.
