During January 6th to 7th, 2017, Professor Cheng Hong, Dean of IQDS, attended the annual meeting of the American Economic Association (AEA) and successfully carried out the recruitment of overseas talents in Chicago. During this recruitment, more than 50 overseas talents were interviewed.
Based on China Employer-Employee Survey (CEES), which is jointly conducted by the internationally-renowned universities including Stanford University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, this recruitment drew great attention of many young scholars from the world’s famous universities. As an important part of our international talent strategy, a large number of high quality overseas talents with good academic training background from mainland China, Hong Kong, Korea, Italy and other countries and regions were attracted in this recruitment. Some of them are returnees of PhD graduates who finished their undergraduate study in China’s well-known universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and some are oversea talents from Princeton University, University of Southern California, University of Maryland, University of California, Davis and other world top universities. During the interview, Professor Cheng Hong made a holistic assessment on all the interviewees from their professional competence, innovation and dedication etc.
The overseas talents interviewed showed strong interest in IQDS. Many of them said, the international cooperation platform of IQDS and the CEES survey project were significant academic attractions, and they looked forward to joining in IQDS team for academic research.
