The article “Does the use of international standards increase productivity?—Evidence from 2015 China Employer-Employee Survey” written by IQDS faculty members, Cheng Hong, Liu Yun and Li Tang, was published in Journal of International Trade (No. 1, 2017).
By adopting propensity score matching methods, this paper empirically analyzes the causal effects of the use of international standards on the total factor productivity (TFP) of enterprises based on the CEES data in 2015. The results show that the use of international standards for enterprise total factor productivity has a strong causal effect, and the average treatment effect (ATT) of average participants matched is basically more than 13.7%. Based on the study, it is further proposed that the government should speed up the establishment of a policy system promoting TFP by using international standards; it should encourage the market-oriented reform of standardized services to enhance the contribution of standardization activities to total factor productivity; it should promote the technologies granted independent intellectual property rights to be transferred as international standards and to expand the export and trade of China’s standardized services.
In 2016, based on the core scientific research resources, IQDS published over 42 papers in CSSCI or above journals, including 2 award journals and 7 important journals; IQDS cooperated with well-known international publisher, Emerald Group Publishing, and Professor Cheng Hong, Dean of IQDS, was appointed as guest editor of the special issue of International Journal of Conflict Management, and an international conference will be held on this issue on June 19, 2017. In 2017, our six academic papers will be integrated and published in China Economic Journal in January, 2017, and research results of IQDS will be also be published in Journal of Happiness Studies, China Management Studies and other SSCI journals.
