Xinhua Observation column of Xinhua Digest published the full CEES report of How China's Manufacturing Enterprises Should Deal with Rising Labor Costs, which was originally published in the Journal of Macro Quality Research 2017 No. 2.
The report illustrates the background, mission of China Employer-Employee Survey and provides comprehensive and realistic picture of the development of China's manufacturing industry and company's profitability, labor market and employment, industrial upgrading and enterprise innovation, reflecting the tremendous value of CEES.
The report proposes that in the face of the challenge of rising labor costs, Chinese manufacturing enterprises are trying their best to find solutions: some enterprises use automated equipment; others increases investments on human resources and innovations. Government also initiates innovation development policies, including subsidies and other means to promote business development.
On the other side, there are also challenges: the average profit margin of enterprises is not high, a considerable number of enterprises exit the market or reduce the use of labor, especially frontline workers, enterprises are not active in enterprise innovation and rely more on government subsidies.
Journal of Macro Quality Study was founded in 2013. It is extended edition of CSSCI, core journal of RCCSE. After four years of hard work, its academic influence increases a lot.
